Our mission at the Reeves Up Foundation is to uplift and transform lives by empowering young adults and individuals facing adversity. Through education in financial literacy, community reintegration, and workforce development, we foster self-reliance and break cycles of poverty and abuse, guiding participants toward a brighter, more independent future
Through targeted programs in financial literacy, community re-entry, and entrepreneurship, the Reeves Up Foundation empowers participants to rebuild their lives, strengthen communities, and break generational cycles. By promoting resilience and self-sufficiency, we create pathways to lasting transformation and inspire hope for a better future.
I was born on September 30, 1980, in Memphis, TN, and raised in Jackson, TN. I graduated from Northside High School in Jackson, TN, class of 1999. I grew up in a low-poverty neighborhood with a lot of criminal activity and violence.
I have been incarcerated twice, and upon my incarceration, I self-educated myself on life experiences dealing with different cultures of people. From a mental, physical, spiritual, and life perspective, I learned about people as a whole in all cultures and communities. So, upon my release, I stayed focused, disciplined, and grounded.
I worked from sun up to sun down and went back to the same neighborhood that I was raised in to open a community store and a laundromat for those who are less fortunate and do not have automobiles or washer and dryer connections in their neighborhood. Now, I take the knowledge that I learned from my incarceration and use it to teach and uplift younger children, teenagers, and adults.
During this process, I was surprised by how many people lacked any knowledge of financial matters. However, finances are the biggest problem in all cultures, households, and communities. The lack of knowledge of managing, saving, or budgeting causes many people in every culture and community to resort to criminal activities and violence. Now, I have taken the opportunity, since I am known in the community, to teach them all, regardless of their age, sex, creed, or color. They see me leading by example and are eager to learn more about the information and knowledge they were lacking and never had anyone to teach them.
So, I started the Reeves Up Foundation to inspire, teach, and grow together. Now, I am in the process of opening up another store in a different community to teach and build another community with knowledge, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and a kind heart.”
